I just opened an account with you. Where do I mail my cheque?

To get started, please mail a personalized cheque from your current financial institution payable to Tandia for a minimum of $30 (your initial deposit including $25 Member Shares) to:

In the memo portion of the cheque, please indicate 'initial deposit'. Once this deposit clears your other financial institution, your DirecTCU account will be active and ready to use.

What are Member Shares and why do I have to pay for them?

To become a member of DirecTCU, it is a requirement for each individual to purchase five member shares totalling $25. These Member Shares are not a fee, they are your initial deposit and represent your share of ownership in a cooperative financial institution. Member Shares entitle you to the full service offerings of the credit union, and the right to vote for Board of Directors representation.

How do I start depositing funds to my DirecTCU account?

There are several methods available for making regular or periodic deposits to your account.

These include:

  • Payroll deposit -- instructing your employer to re-direct your full pay to your DirecTCU account. Contact a DirecTCU representative if you require a PAC form.
  • With Me2Me Transfers, you can easily transfer funds between your DirecTCU accounts and accounts at other Canadian financial institutions.
  • Interac® e-Transfer is a fast, secure and convenient way to send and receive money to anyone with an email address or mobile phone number, and a Canadian deposit account.
  • Deposit cash or a cheque in an Exchange Network ATM at no charge
  • Ongoing automatic fund transfers for any dollar amount can be completed between a Canadian chequing account and your DirecTCU account on a weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly or monthly schedule. Contact a DirecTCU representative for more details.

How do I withdraw funds from my account?

Having full access to your money is essential and we have a variety of options to help make it easy:

  • Your Member Card® debit card provides access to ATMs and Interac® direct payment at retailers. You can use your debit card at 2,400 EXCHANGE Network ATMs for both deposit and withdrawal transactions, surcharge-free.
  • With Me2Me Transfers, you can easily transfer funds between your DirecTCU accounts and accounts at other Canadian financial institutions.
  • Interac® e-Transfer is a fast, secure and convenient way to send and receive money to and from anyone with an email address or a mobile phone number and a Canadian deposit account.
  • Personal cheques
  • For special purposes, a DirecTCU representative can assist you in arranging a one-time Automatic Fund Transfer.
How do I get access to online banking for the first time?

Once your membership has been processed, you will receive a temporary personal access code (PAC). When you log-in for the first time, navigate to the Profile and Preferences menu to change your personal access code.

I forgot my PAC (personal access code) to access online banking. How can I reset it?

You can reset your PAC by phone – just call us at 1.800.598.28911.800.598.2891 during regular hours (option 4# for teleservice assistance). Before we reset your PAC, we have to make sure it's really you, so we will ask a few security questions.

How do I set up preauthorized payments from my account?

Log in to directcu.ca. From the Account Summary page, select Payments in the left column menu. On the Payments page, select the Schedule Recurring Payment tab and complete the form according to when you wish the preauthorized/recurring payment to be taken. To set up preauthorized transactions, a Preauthorized Transaction Form is available upon request through our Member Solutions Centre during regular business hours

What additional services can DirecTCU offer me?

DirecTCU offers a complete line-up of financial services including:

Do you offer any credit card options?

Yes, DirecTCU™ offers credit card services through our partnership with Tandia Collabria® Visa*. For full information on credit card types and features available for an application, visit www.tandia.com/creditcard and select the product that suits your needs best.

What are your Bank Transit and Institution numbers?

How is DirecTCU different from Tangerine or Simplii Financial?

DirecTCU is exclusively offered to specific employer groups within Ontario. Our products are tailored to provide unique features and exclusive rates not available with Tangerine or Simplii Financial.

Also, while Tangerine and Simplii Financial are operated by for-profit corporations, DirecTCU is operated by Tandia, a co-operative organization that is member-owned.

Are my deposits with DirecTCU insured?

Yes, your hard-earned money is protected by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario. Deposits
in registered savings plans are fully insured. Other Canadian dollar deposits are insured up to $250,000. For further information, visit www.dico.com.
